Artist's Description

Inspired by my first visit to New Orleans to celebrate my husband's birthday, this painting is a view from my memory of the trip and a photo of this street band. Mardi Gras beads were on every tree and telephone poll and the people were still glowing from the Saints' Super Bowl win. But I was very motivated by the subject matter. I consider it a little unfinished because there are still facial details I would like to improve.

I hope by keeping imperfections in my work that I can re-focus people on how beautiful the world is — with its organic nature, and despite...
